Aomori Prefecture All High School Band was organized in 1988 to celebrate the establishment of Cultural Club-activities Association of All Japan High School. And for this 20 years, we had several concerts, repeating band-clinic seminars and camps for practice. As a guest conductor, we have invited such outstanding conductors as Mr. Roger Boutry, Mr. Toshio Akiyama, Mr. Eiichi Tohyama, Mr.Yasuhiko Shimozawa, Ms. Yuri Nitta and Mr. Tohru Hora.
In August in 1995, we carried out for great plan --- the first overseas concert tour. We've had an opportunity to perform in several American cities, like New York, Disney-Land (in Orlando) etc, where we had very successful concerts.
In 1997, our second overseas concert tour led us to participate in two large-scale international competitions held in Austria. On of the competitions is World Association for Symphonic Bands and Ensembles (WASBE) in Schladming, where the audience applauded our performance with enthusiasm. The other is World youth music festival in Vienna, where we won the first prize in the category of the Band.
We made our third overseas concert tour in 1999 to take part in two international competitions on the recommendation of Japan Band Directors Association (JBA). One is the 2nd international Alpine Music Festival held in Saas-Fee in Switzerland. We were invited to the Festival as the representative of Japan, and performed 11 pieces of the audience for them. The other is the International Band Competition "G.Verdi-Salsomaggiore Terme". In the Competition, we participated in the Category of Arrangements from, classical music-Excellence and won the 1st prize, and "G.Verdi-Salsomaggiore Terme" Prize as well, which was given to the band that got the highest score in all categories.
