The Brass Orchestra ZUŠ Vimperk was established in 1991, when a teacher of this Elementary Music School Petr Stanek took charge of this destituted orchestra. He has resumed the many years long tradition of the children brass groups, which had been playing in Vimperk in the sixties and seventies.
In 1993, a cooperation with majorettes ZŠ TGM Vimperk has started. The orchestra has also worked with composers Jirí Rada and Jaroslav Dufek. The orchestra has started achieving success since 1997, when winning The National Parade „Cermákovo Vysoké Mýto“.
Next success came in 1998, when winning The National Competition of The Brass Orchestras ZUŠ in Kolín, and competition Concerto Bohemia. In 2001 won the orchestra The Gold Line in The National Competition of Brass Music Pague, again won The National Competition of The Brass Orchestras ZUŠ in Kolín and took part in The Gold Line in The National Parade in Decín.
In 2003 won the orchestra The Silver Line in The National Competition of The Big Orchestras in Ostrava, and one year later won the second place in The National Competition ZUŠ in Litvínov, and again won The National Parade „Cermákovo Vysoké Mýto“.
In 2005 brought the orchestra The Gold Line from The National Music Competition, which took place in Leszno in Poland.The orchestra participated in several prestige parades of brass orchestras like Kmochuv Kolín and FIJO Cheb. The orchestra regulary appears abroad (e.g. Germany, Italy, France, Luxemburg). The orchestra has recently altogether 70 musicians and the average age is 16 years.
