| The k.and k.Viennese regimental chapel IR 4 has come along to the task to maintain the Old-Austrian traditional music and military marches. It is one of the best known signboards of the Austrian wind music. The Old-Austrian tradition obliged music, has always inspired the people all over the world. Whether waltz, polka, gallop or operetta melodies k.and k. Viennese regimental chapel IR 4 plays in special way many of the famous, Austrian melodies, ncluding also the famous German master march with the refrain known everywhere "Mir san vom k. u. k. Infanterieregiment Hoch- und Deutschmeister Numero 4 ... ", a march which was composed by Wilhelm August Jurek to honour of the German master regiment No. 4 in 1893. The repertoire of the chapel encloses, above all, works of famous Austrian composers, like JOHANN STRAUSS, Joseph LANNER, Carl Michael ZIEHRER, Franz LEHAR, Emmerich KALMAN, Robert STOLZ and others. The chapel, in theirs historical blue k. and k uniforms is seen from the year 1871 always with pleasure and from up to 45 musicians exists, - if desired, smaller formations are also possible - especially for public arrangements, like health resort concerts, promenade concerts, street parties, marchings up, company openings, receipts etc. you a centre of attraction is by your appearance as well as by the popular Viennese music always for Joung and Old. How all military orchestras k. and k. Monarchy played the orchestra till few years still in old so-called "high intonation". This goes back on the old field musics and military musics which had to be heard above all outside and in the marching troops. The instruments of the high mood are higher tuned half a tone (semitone step) than the generally common instruments. Today old instruments with high mood are to be got - if generally - very heavy. New instruments in high mood are not generated any more in a row, but only more than single manufacture on separate order. Hence, such instruments are accordingly expensive. This entailed that the younger generation became for the high mood less and less and that the temporary help which an orchestra needs over and over again was to be got heavier and heavier. That´s why the chapel master Hans Salomon decided to move the orchestra on "deep mood" (normal mood) to preserve thus the sound body from the extinction. In spite of this rearrangement it was respected to maintain the Old-Austrian wind music occupation. It is seen especially to the fact that still the Es-clarinet, the concert trumpet, the Es-trumpet as well as the Viennese horn and instead of the bass tuba the traditional Helikon is used. In particular by the rearrangement, but also by skilful advertising policy, the present Kpm succeeded. Friedrich Lentner with his board of directors during the last years, the occupation of from 25 to 45 active musicians (state: To increase spring, 2005).
